David Luke taxidermy brings the finest in waterfowl and gamebird taxidermy to the discriminating sportsman and wingshooter.  David has been practicing the art of taxidermy for over 35 years, learning to utilize “old school” techniques, combined with modern equipment, materials and concepts, to bring the finest in bird taxidermy to sportsmen and women, around the world.  Hundreds of wingshooters across the Nation have David Luke’s taxidermy art in their dens and offices, as well as museums, schools and business offices, worldwide!

An avid wingshooter and shotgunner since youth, David grew up hunting the West with his father and brother.  Beginning a modest taxidermy business in the late 1960’s, performing taxidermy for friends and clients, led to the large facility today, (the showroom boasts over 500 various animal, fish and bird mounts!) located in Mandeville, Louisiana.  David still continues to wingshoot, traveling across America annually, and now offers, in addition to fine taxidermy art, wingshooting adventures “World-Wide”.

David Luke has collected every North American gamebird and waterfowl, and has them on display for viewing within his taxidermy shop.  This collection has led David to travel, with friends and clients, to Mexico, Central America, Argentina, New Zealand, Africa, North Europe, and Southern Europe, all, with wingshooting and bird collecting trips!  With every bird hunting adventure, David has taken the time to study and understand the “in-depth” nature of the birds collected, to provide the wingshooter-collector the finest possible mounts.

From shooting the marshes of South Louisiana, David’s “Homeland”, to prairie chickens and sharptailed grouse in South Dakota, seaducks in Alaska or Massachusetts, Brant and quail in Mexico, ducks and geese in Argentina, mixed “ wing bags” in South Africa, or Capercaillie and blackcock in North Europe, David Luke has been involved in creating not only wingshooting adventures of a lifetime, but, the most beautiful in mounted gamebird and waterfowl taxidermy, for the hunter and shooter to enjoy forever!

David Luke also offers taxidermy training and seminars, ranging from “beginner” level, to novice and professional, alike.  Courses within David ‘s studio are one-on-one, intensive study programs, geared to improve the student’s bird taxidermy quality, and create a full understanding of the entire taxidermy procedure, from “client’s hand, to client’s wall”.
